LaserZone is an indoor laser tag arena just outside Leeds - the kind of place where you and your mates (or family, if you're that way inclined) run around in the dark firing mock weapons at each other. It's proper good fun if you've got the energy for it, though don't expect anything revolutionary. The setup is standard laser tag: darkened maze-like space, electronic vests that register hits, and a scoreboard at the end that determines who actually won the bragging rights.

Families with teenagers will get the most mileage here, particularly if the weather's turned and you need an afternoon indoors. Groups of eight to twelve work best - any smaller and it feels a bit underwhelming, any larger and things get chaotic. Children from about ten upwards tend to have a decent time; younger ones sometimes find the darkness a touch unsettling.

The actual gameplay lasts around twenty minutes, though you'll want to factor in registration and a brief briefing beforehand. Expect to be in and out in under an hour total. It's worth checking their current pricing and booking ahead - walk-ups can be turned away during school holidays and weekends.

It works well as a half-day activity alongside a stay at St Helena's Caravan Park, just five miles away. Pair it with a trip into central Leeds if you've got time, or use it as a rainy-day plan whilst you're staying in the area. Not a destination in itself, but a solid addition to a family break.
