Lenham Library

Lenham Library is a quiet, working library in the village of Lenham, just outside Maidstone. It's the sort of place you'd pop into if you're passing through rather than plan a day around, but there's something genuine about it - proper community space, the kind where regulars know the staff and schoolkids come in after classes.

You'll find the usual: books, computers, a reading area. It's not trying to be anything flashy. If you're staying at one of the nearby glamping sites - Chegworth Mill is only three miles away - and need somewhere warm and dry on a rainy afternoon, or if you've got kids who need to burn an hour on the library computers, it serves that purpose well enough. Don't expect exhibitions or events; this is functional and honest.

The real reason to know about it is proximity. Maidstone's just down the road, and if you're based at Bearsted Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite or Go Glamp, Lenham is genuinely handy for a quick visit. Free admission, certainly - it's a public library. Allow twenty minutes to an hour depending on what you're after.

It won't make your holiday. But it's useful, and sometimes that's enough. Worth knowing about if you're staying locally and want somewhere to shelter or find a book for the evening.
