The water sits perfectly still most days, reflecting the surrounding hills like a sheet of dark glass. Lluest-Wen Reservoir is a proper working water supply for the area, but it's also become a decent spot for walking and a bit of peace and quiet if you're staying in Powys.

There's a decent walk around the perimeter - takes about an hour depending on your pace and how often you stop to look at the view. The eastern shore is the more interesting bit, with woodland backing onto the water and the occasional glimpse across to the hills beyond. It's not dramatic scenery, but it's got that understated Mid-Wales appeal that grows on you.

You won't find much in the way of facilities here. No cafes, no visitor centre, no fancy infrastructure. What you get is access to walk the banks, take some photos, and escape the noise. Walkers will appreciate it more than families with small children - there's no playground, no designated picnic area, and the paths can be muddy in wet weather.

If you're based at either Willow Springs Campsite or Four Falls Glamping, both within easy driving distance, it's absolutely worth a morning visit. Port Talbot isn't far if you need to stock up on supplies. The best time is early morning or late afternoon when the light's decent and you won't see another soul.
