The woodland paths here are proper dense in places - towering oaks and beech trees that make you forget you're only a short drive from Tunbridge Wells. There's a real sense of seclusion once you're past the first ten minutes of walking, which is rare this close to town.

It's a straightforward woodland walk rather than a destination with facilities or attractions. The paths are well-defined and mostly level, though they do get muddy after rain - wear decent boots. Most people spend somewhere between an hour and ninety minutes exploring the main routes without rushing. Families with younger kids might find it a bit samey after forty minutes, but if your children actually enjoy being in the woods rather than at a play park, they'll be fine.

Walkers will get the most from it. There's something meditative about the quietness and the lack of crowds you'd get at a more famous spot. The canopy coverage is excellent for hot days, which is worth factoring in during summer.
