The medieval village east of Cambridge is one of those places that rewards getting properly lost. What draws you in is the scale. It's not vast, so you won't need more than an hour or two wandering around. The church usually anchors the centre, and if it's open (worth checking ahead) the interior alone justifies the trip. Walkers and history types will find plenty to appreciate, though families with very young children might find the pace a touch slow once they've seen the main street.

It works brilliantly as a half-day addition to a Cambridge trip, especially if you're staying at one of the nearby glamping spots like Lodeside or Fen Meadows, both just over a mile away. The drives between parks and village are short enough that you could easily explore a few neighbouring villages in the same afternoon.
