Montgomery Canal

The Montgomery Canal cuts through Powys like a thread of calm through the Welsh borderlands, and it's one of those places that rewards you for actually bothering to walk it rather than just driving past. Spring and early autumn are best; summer can get busy with boats. It pairs perfectly with a stay at one of the nearby parks like Tanat Holiday Park or Sweeney Farm Glamping - you've got proper outdoor space on your doorstep without the theme-park atmosphere. The canal won't change your life, but it might quietly improve your week.
