Moravian Jubilee Wood

A woodland walk near Ballymena that's quietly impressive without the crowds. Moravian Jubilee Wood is a proper bit of green space - dense enough to feel like you've escaped into something genuine, not a manicured park experience. You'll find yourself on decent paths winding through mature trees, the kind of place where you actually notice the light changing through the canopy rather than scrolling Instagram.

It's ideal for walkers who want substance without needing to spend half the day on a hike. Families with kids will get a good hour or so out of it before the novelty wears thin - there's enough to explore but nothing that'll keep a restless five-year-old entertained for an afternoon. History buffs might appreciate the Moravian connection (a somewhat obscure religious heritage for Northern Ireland), though there's not much in the way of interpretation boards.

The wood's best tackled on a clear day when you can actually see what you're walking through. Avoid it after heavy rain unless you're prepared for muddy boots. Coming here makes sense if you're staying at Sunset Glamping, which is only a few miles away - keeps the driving to a minimum and lets you tick off a proper local walk without the tourist infrastructure of somewhere like the Slemish area.

Free access, no facilities that I could find, so bring water and go in daylight. It's the sort of place locals know and tourists miss - and that's probably exactly how it should be.
