Murrell's Field

Murrell's Field is a local sports and recreation ground just outside Arundel in West Sussex, the kind of place that gets heavy use from families and local teams rather than tourists passing through. It's essentially a straightforward leisure facility - open grassland with typical park infrastructure for football pitches, cricket, and general sports activities. Nothing flashy, but it does what it's meant to do.

This is genuinely useful if you've got kids who need burning off energy or you're camping nearby and fancy a kickabout. The field itself is functional rather than Instagram-worthy, which means you won't find crowds clogging it up either. Worth a visit if you're staying at one of the nearby caravan parks like Camp and Touring site at Old Farm Slindon or Rowan Park in Bognor Regis, especially if the weather's decent and you want to occupy an afternoon.

The site has recently undergone improvement works as of 2025, so facilities should be reasonably decent. Given the proximity to Arundel - a proper medieval town with the castle and river walks - you could easily pair a morning exploring the town centre with an afternoon at the field if you've got restless types in tow. It won't take hours of your time, but it's handy to know about if you're based in the area for a week.
