My Dog Field

There's a small patch of land near Greenfield in Lancashire that locals call My Dog Field, and it's exactly what the name suggests - a proper spot where people take their dogs for a run-about. Nothing fancy, nothing staged. Just an open field that's become something of a community gathering point for dog walkers in the area.

The appeal is straightforward. It's free, accessible, and if you're staying at nearby Dovestone Holiday Park, it's a handy fifteen-minute drive for letting your dog burn off some energy. The field itself is unremarkable in the grand scheme of things - no facilities, no café, no interpretive boards telling you the history of Lancashire grassland. What you get is space, and for dogs, that's usually enough.

Walkers without dogs, honestly, won't find much reason to linger. There's no particular view to speak of, no woodland trail, no reason to make it a destination in itself. But if you're touring the area with a spaniel or a terrier, it's worth knowing about. Twenty minutes here and your dog will be knackered, which means a peaceful evening back at the holiday park.

Go early morning or late afternoon if you can - it's quieter and you'll dodge the weekend crowd of dog owners. Parking is informal, so manage expectations there. It's not a day out. It's a functional stop on a dog-friendly Lancashire itinerary.
