Myrtle Avenue Green space

The green space along Myrtle Avenue isn't going to blow your mind, but it's a proper little pocket of nature tucked away near Staines. You're looking at a modest nature reserve where locals and the occasional visiting family come to spot whatever birds and small wildlife are about. It's the kind of place where you might see a heron if you're lucky, or at least a few ducks - nothing that requires a day trip on its own, but genuinely worth a wander if you're staying at one of the nearby parks.

For families with young kids, it's fine for an hour or so. They can run about, you can sit on a bench and actually read your book without someone screaming. Birdwatchers might find something worth their time, especially early morning when things are quieter. It's flat and manageable, no dramatic walks required.

Staines is your nearest proper town, and from there you're well-positioned for the camping and caravanning sites - Penton Park over in Chertsey is particularly well-regarded, or try Laleham if you want something closer to the water. The Thames Path runs through this area too, so you could easily combine a gentle stroll at Myrtle Avenue with a longer riverside walk. Don't expect wild terrain or rare species. Think of it as a pleasant spot to break up a park-based weekend, not a destination in itself.
