The National Trust manages this quiet parcel of trees near Maidenhead, and it offers a proper walk through native woodland without the crowds you'd find at somewhere more famous. The paths wind through established oak and beech, muddy after rain but rewarding in autumn when the canopy turns copper and gold.

Walkers will get the most from this one. It's not a destination for a five-minute potter - allow a good hour if you want to see what's here without rushing. The terrain is gentle enough for families with older kids, though younger ones might lose interest after thirty minutes.
