The kitchens are particularly good, all copper pots and period mess. Furniture buffs will properly love it; families with restless kids should perhaps manage expectations. Allow two hours if you're thorough, ninety minutes if you're just here for the vibe.

Based in Rufford itself, the hall makes sense as a morning or afternoon stop if you're staying at one of the nearby parks - Leisure Lakes or Riverside are within a fifteen-minute drive. It works best as part of a wider Lancashire ramble rather than a destination in itself. The grounds are pleasant enough, though hardly dramatic.
