A proper woodland walk through New Hare Covert means you're getting the real Warwickshire experience - dense trees, forest floor thick with leaf matter, and the kind of quiet that feels earned after a drive out from Rugby. This is an actual working forest rather than a manicured nature reserve, which means it's got character and the occasional muddy patch to prove it.

The paths wind through mixed woodland - oak, ash, birch - and it's the sort of place where you actually spot wildlife rather than just hoping to. Deer aren't unusual, and the bird life is solid if you've got the patience to stop and listen. It's not massive, so you're looking at maybe an hour or ninety minutes of walking depending on how many wrong turns you take and how often you pause to check your bearings.

Walkers will get the most from this one. Families with younger kids might find it a bit samey after forty minutes, and there's no visitor centre or cafe to break things up. Best visited in autumn when the colours are actually doing something, or in spring when the bluebells are still hanging on. Winter's fine if you don't mind slippery patches. Summer can feel claustrophobic with the canopy this thick. Bring proper footwear.
