New Plantation

New Plantation is a proper forest walk just outside Southport, the sort of place that gives you actual woodland without needing to trek an hour into the peaks. The trees create a decent canopy, paths wind through without being too demanding, and it feels like proper countryside despite being minutes from the seafront. You'll find mixed woodland - some older growth, plenty of space to actually move about without feeling hemmed in.

Walkers will get the most from this. It's not a destination attraction with viewpoints or viewpoints or Instagram moments, but if you're staying at Riverside Holiday Park or Four Seasons Glamping - both just down the road - and you fancy getting out of the caravan for a couple of hours without faffing about with travel time, this does the job. Children won't complain provided you make it a treasure hunt (look for specific trees, spot wildlife, that sort of thing). Adults after a proper leg-stretch will find the paths decent enough.

The real value here is convenience paired with genuine green space. Southport's got the beach and the pier for the easy-win family days, but New Plantation gives you something quieter. Allow two hours if you're being leisurely, an hour if you just want to shift some energy. No facilities that I can find mentioned, so bring water. It's free to access - no gates, no charges - which is rare enough these days to actually mention.
