New Quay Head

Wind whips across this grassy headland jutting into Cardigan Bay, offering proper views along the Ceredigion coast that make the short climb worthwhile. New Quay Head sits just above the harbour town of New Quay, a gentle walk up from the seafront that rewards with sweeping vistas across the bay and down to the colourful houses lining the waterfront below.

Families will find this an easy win - the path isn't taxing and kids can spot boats in the harbour while parents soak up the coastal panorama. On clear days you can see right across to Bardsey Island. The headland also makes a decent vantage point for dolphin watching, though you'll need binoculars and a good dose of patience.

Allow half an hour for the walk and views, longer if you're settling in with a picnic. Early morning or late afternoon light shows off the coastline at its best, and you'll avoid the New Quay crowds that descend in summer.

Staying at one of the nearby holiday parks like Haven Quay West or Ocean Heights makes this a lovely evening stroll after a day on the beach. The headland connects well with walks along the Wales Coast Path too, so keen hikers can easily extend their adventure along this particularly scenic stretch of the Ceredigion coast.
