New Road Clump

A proper woodland walk rather than a manicured attraction, New Road Clump sits just outside Malmesbury and delivers exactly what it promises - dense forest, quiet paths, and the kind of place where you can actually hear yourself think. The trees here are thick enough that even on a grey day it feels atmospheric rather than dreary.

It's straightforward: you get forest paths that wind through deciduous woodland, nothing fancy, no visitor centre or ice cream van. Dog walkers and serious hikers get the most from it because there's genuine peace here, no crowds jostling for photos. Families with younger children might find it a bit samey after half an hour unless they're the type who enjoy spotting wildlife and building stick dens. Allow 45 minutes to an hour for a decent loop.
