Northernmost Point of Kent

The bit where Kent officially stops and Essex takes over sits on a rather ordinary stretch of marshland east of Tilbury, marked by a simple stone monument that you'll either find charming or a touch underwhelming depending on your mood. It's one of those locations that appeals primarily to boundary enthusiasts and folks doing regional completion challenges rather than casual day-trippers. That said, the walk itself along the Thames foreshore has genuine appeal if you time it right. The river views stretch wide and reasonably unspoilt, and on a clear day there's something satisfying about standing at a geographic terminus.

Reach it on foot from Tilbury's waterfront area, though the final approach crosses working marshland that can be boggy. Allow a couple of hours round trip if you're coming from town. It's free to visit and accessible year-round, though winter can be properly muddy underfoot. Spring and early autumn offer the clearest views without the summer tourist shuffle nearby at Tilbury Fort.

Historie-hunters and walkers heading out from Thamesview Camping, just 2.8 miles away, might reasonably tack this on to a longer Thames-side ramble. It won't keep you occupied for hours, but as a footnote to exploring Kent's northeastern edge or fuelling a competitive county-bagging mission, it does the job. Skip it if you're after dramatic landscapes or Instagram moments.
