Nutsford Great Copse

The Copse sits on the edge of Tiverton, a proper woodland walk that doesn't require hiking boots or a packed lunch. It's ancient broadleaf forest - oak, beech, the sort of trees that have been here for centuries - which makes it feel properly wild even when you're only twenty minutes from the town centre.

You get a decent network of paths threading through, nothing too demanding but enough variety that you won't retrace your steps immediately. The canopy is thick enough that it stays cool and damp underfoot even in summer. Dog walkers love it, families with younger kids find it manageable, and if you're after something quieter than the main Tiverton parks, this delivers.

There's no visitor centre or facilities that I'm aware of, so bring what you need. Allow an hour for a proper wander without rushing. Spring's magic here - bluebells spread across the forest floor - but honestly, any season works. Winter's quite atmospheric when the trees are bare.
