Oaks Wood

The woodland paths through Oaks Wood deliver proper walking territory just outside Shrewsbury - nothing fancy, just good honest forest floor and decent shade when you need it. You can walk it for free, obviously. Allow an hour minimum for a decent amble, longer if you're the type to stop and watch things. Spring and autumn are probably your best bets - fewer insects, better visibility, and the woodland floor is more interesting.
