Oldfields

Oldfields is a proper working nature reserve just outside Uttoxeter, the kind of place that rewards a slow morning walk rather than a rushed visit. You're looking at open grassland, woodland edges, and the sort of quiet corners where you might spot butterflies, birds, and the occasional deer if you're lucky enough and move quietly enough.

The reserve suits walkers and birdwatchers far more than families after a day out - there's no café, no facilities, just the land itself. Allow an hour or two depending on how far you fancy wandering. The trails are manageable, though they can get muddy after rain, so proper boots matter. Spring and early summer are when it's most lively if you're after wildlife spotting.

It's the sort of place that works brilliantly as part of a wider exploring day from one of the nearby holiday parks - Lane Tree Hideaways and Field Head Farm are both within three miles, making it an easy morning before heading into Uttoxeter proper or pushing on to bigger attractions.
