Our Lady & St James' Church.

The church sits quietly on Anglesey, a proper piece of Welsh ecclesiastical history that most visitors to the island completely walk past. Our Lady & St James' is a medieval structure with Norman roots, the sort of place where you can actually feel the weight of centuries - generations of local families have worshipped here, been married here, buried here. The building itself tells the story: notice the stonework, the windows, the way it's positioned in the landscape.

It's free to visit and takes about twenty minutes to have a proper look around, longer if you're genuinely interested in ecclesiastical architecture. The real appeal here is that it's not overrun with tourists. You won't queue, you won't find a gift shop, and you'll probably have the place to yourself. That's both its strength and its limitation - if you're after guided tours or interactive displays, you'll be disappointed.

Walkers and history types will get more from this than families with young kids, though it's worth a quick stop if you're cycling or driving around the island. Bangor is your nearest proper town, just across the Menai Bridge, and there's a cluster of caravan parks within four miles - Podiau Môn, Black Horse Glamping, and Tros Y Waen are all close enough for a morning visit before heading elsewhere. It's the sort of stop that makes sense as part of a broader Anglesey exploration rather than a destination in itself.
