There's a rather unusual bronze sculpture in Downpatrick that stops you in your tracks - a life-sized figure of St Patrick himself, standing in a car park. It's become something of a local talking point, partly because of its unlikely setting among the tarmac and white lines.

It works best as part of a broader wander around Downpatrick itself, where the cathedral and heritage centre offer more substantial context if you're interested in Patrick's actual history. On its own, the statue feels a bit thin - handy if you're already parking nearby, but not worth a dedicated trip.

The real draw in this area is the walking and the coastal scenery further east. The statue serves as a quick cultural note rather than a destination itself.
