About Pendine

Seven miles of golden sand stretch out before you at this legendary Welsh beach where Malcolm Campbell and J.G. Parry-Thomas once raced for world land speed records in the 1920s. The flat, firm sand that made it perfect for racing cars at 170mph still provides brilliant conditions for a proper seaside day out.

Families absolutely love it here. The beach shelves gently into Carmarthen Bay, making it safe for paddling tots, while the vast expanse means you're never fighting for space even in summer. Dog walkers get a real treat too - this is one of the few beaches where you can let your hound sprint for what feels like miles.

Car parking runs right along the seafront, so you can practically drive onto the sand itself. The museum of speed at one end tells the racing story well, though it's small enough to see in thirty minutes. Low tide reveals the most sand, but even at high water there's plenty of room.

Position-wise, you're perfectly placed between Carmarthen to the northeast and the Dylan Thomas country around Laugharne. Several holiday parks dot the area including Parkdean's own site just up the road, making this an easy day trip from your caravan base. The beach itself costs nothing, though parking will set you back a few quid.
