Piggy Hill

Norfolk's highest point sounds grander than it actually is. Piggy Hill rises to 102 metres - barely a bump compared to proper peaks - but that's precisely why it matters out here in the flatlands. The walk up takes minutes, the views stretch across the Broads and farmland to Norwich on the horizon, and on a clear day you feel like you've actually achieved something.

It's the sort of place that rewards walkers without demanding much in return. No scrambling, no dodgy footing, just a straightforward climb that kids manage easily. The real value is the perspective shift - standing at Norfolk's roof gives you a completely different sense of the landscape. From down below, it all merges into an undifferentiated green. Up here, the patchwork separates itself.
