Pinfold Caravan Park

The Pinfold in Kendal is one of those proper old-fashioned landmarks that most visitors to the Lake District walk straight past without noticing. It's a small, functional stone structure - basically a cattle pen where local farmers used to corral stray livestock until owners claimed them. Nothing flashy, nothing Instagram-worthy, but genuinely interesting if you care about how rural communities actually operated a couple of centuries back.

You'll find it right in the town itself, easy enough to spot once you know what you're looking for. It takes five minutes to walk around it, maybe ten if you read the information board and let your mind wander a bit. The walls are sturdy grey stone, built to last, and there's something oddly satisfying about standing in front of something so straightforward and unglamorous.

Walking history types will get a kick out of it - it's the sort of detail that fills in gaps when you're exploring a market town properly. It won't eat into your day, and it costs nothing.
