Pitnacree

You'll find Pitnacree tucked into the Perthshire landscape near Pitlochry - it's an Iron Age fort that's genuinely worth the detour if you're into archaeology. What you get here is the earthwork itself: ramparts that still rise noticeably from the ground, giving you a real sense of how these ancient settlements were laid out and defended.

The site sits in open countryside, which means you can walk the perimeter and actually trace the fort's shape without scrambling through dense woodland or fighting through undergrowth.
