Pleasurewood Hills Family Theme Park

Pleasurewood Hills sits just outside Lowestoft and is Norfolk's answer to the bigger theme parks - rides, arcades, and the sort of chaos that keeps families occupied for a good few hours. There's a decent range of rides for different ages, from gentle spinning teacups for the littlest visitors to roller coasters that'll get the adrenaline going. The log flume's the classic; expect to get properly wet if you queue for it on a warm day.

It's not going to blow your mind if you've been to Blackpool or Alton Towers, but for a rainy Tuesday afternoon in Norfolk it does the job. Kids aged five to fourteen will genuinely enjoy themselves. Teenagers might find it a bit tame unless they're after a laugh with mates. Adults without children probably won't bother, though it's fine for a family group wanting something low-key.

The park's a solid add-on if you're staying at one of the nearby holiday parks - Azure Seas is practically on the doorstep, and Haven Hopton's only a couple of miles away. You could knock it out in three to four hours without rushing. Admission isn't cheap, so check their website for occasional deals before you go. The actual rides are included once you're in, which is decent enough. Go midweek during school term if you can stomach the weather - weekends get rammed with families from all over East Anglia.
