Pool Tail Coppice

You'll find yourself walking into proper woodland here - the sort where the light filters through oak and beech in strips of gold. Pool Tail Coppice is a modest but genuine slice of Warwickshire forest, just outside Warwick, where paths wind through dense trees and you can actually hear the quiet.

It's not dramatic. There's no waterfall, no dramatic viewpoint, no cafe selling overpriced coffee. What you get instead is space to walk without bumping into crowds, the chance to spot birds and the occasional deer if you're lucky, and the smell of damp earth after rain. The paths are well-trodden but not trampled - this feels like a working wood rather than a manicured visitor attraction.

Walkers and nature-types will get the most from it. Kids might manage an hour here before asking when you're leaving, unless they're the sort obsessed with collecting leaves and climbing fallen logs. It's the kind of spot you'd combine with other Warwickshire walks rather than drive to specifically.

Access appears to be free and open year-round, though facilities are minimal - bring your own water. Allow an hour or so for a decent circuit; it's a few miles of paths but nothing strenuous.
