Porthleven Beach Cliffs

The cliffs above Porthleven Beach deliver proper drama. Towering granite walls drop sheer to the shingle below, and on a clear day you can see right across Mount's Bay towards Mousehole and beyond. It's the kind of spot where you feel genuinely small.

Walking the cliff path itself is straightforward enough, though the wind can catch you off guard - this isn't sheltered terrain. The beach itself is a working fishing village with colourful boats and a decent harbour, so there's actual life here rather than just scenery. Worth timing a visit for late afternoon when the light hits those stone faces properly.

Walkers will get the most from this place. The cliff-top path offers decent vistas without requiring mountaineering skills, and you can easily spend an hour or two working along the coast. Families with younger kids might find the exposed height a bit daunting - there's no railing and the drop is real. Photographers should know the light's best when sun's behind you, facing back towards Praa Sands.

It's free to access, naturally. The nearest facilities are in the village itself - a few cafes and the working harbour keeps things grounded.
