Prissen's Tor (OS 1900) / Spiritsail Tor (OS 1896)

Two rocky outcrops with different names on different Ordnance Survey maps - that's bureaucracy for you. Whatever you call it, this tor offers some of the finest coastal views on the Gower Peninsula, looking out across the shifting sands of Whiteford Burrows towards the Bristol Channel.

The walk up takes about twenty minutes from the nearest parking, following well-worn paths through heather and gorse. Nothing too taxing, though the final scramble onto the rocks might test anyone with dodgy knees. Once up there, the panorama is properly spectacular on a clear day. You can spot Burry Holms island to the west and the sweep of Rhossili Bay stretching away to the south.

Walkers and photographers will get the most from this spot - families with very young children might find the rocky terrain a bit challenging. Early morning or late afternoon light makes for the best photos, when the sands below catch the golden hour perfectly.

It's free to visit and accessible year-round, though winter storms can make the approach path muddy. Allow an hour for the round trip from Whiteford village. The tor sits conveniently close to several Gower camping options, with Whiteford Bay Premier Leisure Park practically on the doorstep. Perfect for an evening stroll after setting up camp.
