A car park doesn't sound like the sort of thing you'd deliberately visit, but Rammamere is genuinely interesting if you're the sort of person who cares about mid-century British design. It's a brutalist affair near Milton Keynes - all clean lines and functional concrete - that's become something of a cult spot for architecture enthusiasts and photographers. The structure itself is the draw here; it's well worth ten minutes of your time if you're passing through.

The main appeal is visual. It looks proper striking in certain light, especially for black-and-white photography, and the architectural details reward a closer look if that sort of thing engages you. It's not going to keep families entertained for long - kids will get restless after a quick look round - but if you're walking or driving through Buckinghamshire and fancy seeing a bit of post-war Britain's industrial optimism, it's worth the slight detour.

No charge to visit, naturally, since it's a functioning car park. Allow ten to fifteen minutes maximum. Combine it with a stay at Hill Farm and Orchard, the five-star holiday park about six miles away, and you've got a genuinely odd but memorable addition to a countryside break. Frankly, it's the sort of thing that sounds daft until you actually see it - then you understand why people bang on about it.
