It's the sort of place that works because of where it is, not despite it.

The popup nature means don't expect a permanent collection. What's on changes, so you're either catching something worthwhile or you're not. Worth checking what's showing before you go. The waterside location makes it handy if you're based at River View Camping just up the road, or using one of the other sites round Maidstone like The Hop Farm or Still Acres - none of them are more than a few miles away.

A couple of hours maximum, really. Art types will spend longer picking over the details, but for most visitors it's a quick browse with a river walk thrown in. Families with restless kids might find it a bit quiet. The big advantage is you're not trapped indoors - step outside and you've got actual scenery to get on with.

Free entry, as far as I can establish, though do ring ahead to confirm what's actually open and whether there's anything on worth the trip. It's more of a clever use of riverfront space than a destination in itself, but if you're camping locally and want an afternoon activity that's free and doesn't involve theme parks, it'll do the job.
