Rotherham Minster

The limestone tower of Rotherham Minster rises sharply above the town centre, and it's impossible to miss once you've spotted it. This isn't a grand cathedral - it's a parish church that punches well above its weight, with a 15th-century spire that dominates the skyline in a way few churches manage.

Inside, the space opens up beautifully. The Minster has a real sense of proportion, with clean stone work and stained glass that catches the light properly. The main draw is the architecture itself - it's Early English Perpendicular at its best, without being so overwhelming that you'll need two hours to take it in. Rotherham town centre sits right around it, so parking is straightforward and there's decent access to the wider area. If you're staying at Hooton Lodge Farm just down the road, it makes a solid half-hour excursion - not something that'll dominate your day, but proper worth the detour if you're into period buildings.
