About Rough Ravens
Walkers will get the most from this place. It's not a quick fifteen-minute spin - allow at least an hour if you want to do it justice, longer if you're taking photos or just sitting about with a coffee. The woodland dog owners seem to have made it their own, so expect to meet plenty of spaniels, and frankly that's part of the appeal. Kids will tolerate it, though they might start complaining if you push them past the first mile without a snack break.
I'd recommend coming in autumn when the light filters through differently and the forest floor is properly alive with fallen leaves. Spring's decent too, though muddier. Stamford itself is only five or so miles away - it's worth popping into town for a proper meal after, as the forest walk can leave you genuinely hungry.
If you're staying at Stamford Meadows Glamping nearby, this makes an excellent morning activity before heading to the site for lunch. Free to walk round, no fees or permissions needed as far as I can tell. Not dramatic, but honest woodland.
