RSPB Beckingham Marshes

You won't find manicured paths or visitor centres with gift shops. What you get instead are three walking routes of varying difficulty that take you right into the action. The main boardwalk is accessible for most abilities and keeps you above the squelch, while keen walkers can head out to the hides - small, weathered structures where you'll spot lapwings, redshank, and if you're lucky, a marsh harrier cutting across the water. Binoculars are essential. A notebook helps. Patience is non-negotiable.
