Families with younger kids might find it a touch thin for an afternoon - it's more about the atmosphere than activities. But if you're after somewhere to get proper Welsh hospitality and avoid the honeypot attractions, this works.

The square's free to walk around, obviously, and the surrounding town is compact enough to explore on foot. Go midweek if you can - Saturdays bring crowds, but weekdays show you who Ruthin actually is.
