School Plantation

School Plantation is a proper woodland walk just outside Woodbridge, the sort of place that doesn't announce itself with signs or visitor centres but rewards you for finding it anyway. It's a working forest, managed for timber, so you get the real thing rather than a manicured nature reserve - tall conifers, open glades, and paths that feel genuinely quiet even on decent weather days.

The walk itself is straightforward enough for families with older kids, though younger ones might find the loose forest floor a bit tricky underfoot. Allow an hour or so to potter about without rushing. There's something oddly peaceful about the place - no admission charges, no facilities to speak of, just trees and space. Go early morning if you can; the light through the canopy is worth the extra effort.

It works well as a half-day outing between staying at Run Cottage Touring Park or Woodbridge Glamping, both nearby. The woodland isn't dramatic or unusual in any way, and it won't hold the attention of kids expecting something with more happening. But if you want a proper walk without crowds and you're in the area, it's time well spent. Not the sort of place people travel to specially, but exactly the kind locals rely on when they need fresh air and don't want to drive far.
