The woodland around Market Rasen has a proper wild feel to it, and Scrubb Wood delivers exactly that - a no-nonsense forest walk through some genuine East Midlands greenery. Ancient oak and ash dominate, with enough undergrowth to feel like you've actually stepped somewhere untamed rather than shuffled along a manicured trail. The wood itself isn't huge, so you're looking at maybe an hour's amble depending on how much you dawdle and how many wrong turns you take. That said, the paths are reasonably clear and it's the sort of place that rewards poking about.

For families with young legs, it works well - enough space to let them run off steam without the worry of getting properly lost. Walkers will appreciate it as a solid addition to a day exploring the local area rather than a destination in itself. The real pull is that it feels genuinely separate from Market Rasen, even though you're barely a few miles out. Spring's when the place really comes alive with bluebells and birdsong, though it's worth visiting any time you're in the area.
