Seedgreen Park

A sprawl of woodland and wetland just outside Stourport-on-Severn that actually feels like proper countryside rather than a manicured park. The reserve is built around old gravel pits that have slowly turned into something genuinely wild - reed beds, open water, scrubby woodland. You get proper habitat here, not just a walk round a field.

The trails wind through different sections, and if you're into birds you'll spend hours with binoculars trying to clock whatever's moving through the reeds. Less charismatic for younger kids who want something to do, though they won't be bored if they're the type who enjoy spotting dragonflies and damselflies. The water attracts all sorts in summer. Walking takes anywhere from 45 minutes to a couple of hours depending which loops you do.

It's free to get in and the paths are mostly flat, which means families and older visitors manage it fine. Go early morning if you want to see anything wildlife-wise - mid-afternoon and you'll mostly see your own footprints. Spring and early summer are when it's actually worth timing a visit.

Fits well with a base at Hidden England Escapes just down the road - close enough for a morning session without eating up your whole day. Combine it with a walk along the Severn itself or a poke round Stourport's lock system and you've got a solid half-day out.
