Silcock's Wood

You'll find yourself walking into proper woodland the moment you enter Silcock's Wood, just outside Tenterden. It's a straightforward forest - nothing fancy, no visitor centre or tea room - just trees, paths, and the kind of quiet you don't get many places these days. The woodland floor is soft underfoot, and if you time it right in autumn, the light filtering through the canopy is genuinely lovely.

It's ideal for walkers wanting something low-key without the crowds you'd get at more famous Kent spots. Kids will enjoy it for an hour or so, though they won't find adventure playgrounds or anything structured - just space to run about among the trees. Bring wellies if there's been rain; the paths hold water.

Free to access, no opening hours to worry about. Allow an hour for a proper walk, less if you're just after a quick wander. The woodland works brilliantly as a morning activity before heading into Tenterden itself, or as a stretch of the legs between your glamping base and lunch.
