Snaple Point

The walk up to Snaple Point rewards you with one of the Swansea area's most commanding views across the bay. It's a proper coastal vantage point - the kind of spot where you can see for miles on a clear day, and where the wind will absolutely test your balance if you're not careful.

Getting here involves a decent walk from the car park, so allow a good hour at least if you want to take your time and actually enjoy the view rather than just gasping for breath at the top. It's popular with serious walkers and photographers, less so with very young kids - there's no shortcut to the views, and the path can be muddy after rain. Bring proper footwear.

The point itself is genuinely striking. You're standing above the coast looking back towards Swansea and across the sweep of the bay, and it gives you proper perspective on how the coastline actually works rather than what you get from the beaches themselves. On a grey Welsh day it's moody and dramatic. On a rare clear one, it's simply excellent.

If you're based at one of the nearby parks - Blackhills Leisure or Three Cliffs Bay are both within easy driving distance - this works as a half-day excursion. Pair it with a walk along Three Cliffs Bay itself if the tide allows, and you've got a solid day sorted. Free to visit, obviously. No facilities up top, so bring water.
