Snowshill Lavender Farm

The smell hits you first - that unmistakable purple-haze sweetness rolling across the fields just outside Broadway. Snowshill Lavender Farm is a working lavender operation, not some contrived tourist trap, and that matters. You're walking through actual rows of the stuff, planted across rolling Worcestershire countryside, with the Cotswold hills doing their postcard thing in the distance.

It's a proper summer destination. Peak season runs June through August when the plants are at their most fragrant and the fields are genuinely stunning - all that purple stretching out is worth the drive alone. Outside those months, frankly, it's less compelling; the flowers fade and the appeal drops off sharply. Allow an hour to wander the fields, take some photos, and have a browse in the farm shop where they sell dried lavender bundles, oils, and the usual farm-gift fare.

Families with young children might find it a bit samey after thirty minutes, though picking your own flowers (if they allow it when you visit) could stretch things out. Walkers love it as a detour between Broadway and the surrounding Cotswold trails. Photography types and anyone seriously into gardens will get more from it.

It's free to visit the fields themselves, though the farm shop does expect you to buy something if you're hanging about. If you're based at Broadway Caravan and Motorhome Club Campsite - just 2.8 miles away - it's an easy evening walk through the countryside. Equally convenient from Campden Yurts at 4.6 miles for a morning visit before heading elsewhere.
