St Cuthbert's draws mainly history buffs and local walkers rather than coach tours, which is exactly why it's worth stopping by. The interior is simple, with original stonework and that particular smell you get in old churches - damp stone and centuries of hymn books. If you're into ecclesiastical architecture, the Norman features are worth examining. If you're not, forty minutes is probably your lot.
