St Goran Parish Church

A proper Cornish church that's older than most things in these parts, St Goran sits quietly in Gorran Churchtown like it's been holding court for centuries. The granite walls have that weathered grey look that comes from facing down Atlantic storms year after year. Inside, you'll find the usual mix of Norman stonework and later additions - nothing fancy, but solidly built and rather moving in its simplicity.

Families camping at nearby Pentewan Sands or Heligan might pop in for a quick look, though it's really more for those who appreciate old architecture and local history. The churchyard has some decent carved stones if you're into that sort of thing. Worth a fifteen-minute wander if you're passing through, but I wouldn't make a special journey unless you're particularly keen on medieval churches.

The village itself is small - blink and you'll miss it - but the church does anchor the place nicely. It's the sort of spot that reminds you why these Cornish settlements grew up where they did. Combine it with a walk along the nearby coast path rather than treating it as a destination in itself.
