St. Peter & St. Paul

The twin towers of St. Peter & St. Paul rise above Skegness like a pair of grey sentinels, and they're one of those proper surprises you stumble upon when you're supposed to be heading to the beach. This is a working parish church, medieval at heart, with enough architectural interest to keep anyone who actually cares about stonework occupied for a good hour.

Inside, it's got that cool, slightly austere atmosphere you get in East Anglian churches - high vaulted ceilings, decent stained glass, and the sort of hushed feeling that makes you walk differently. The towers themselves are distinctive; you don't see that twin-tower arrangement everywhere, so it photographs well if you're into that sort of thing.

It's free to wander in, and there's rarely a crowd, which is either brilliant or disappointing depending on whether you want solitude or company. Families with young kids might lose them after fifteen minutes unless they're genuinely interested in medieval architecture. Serious walkers and history types will find it worth the detour from whatever you're doing at the seafront.

Since you're staying at one of the parks - North Shore, Southview, or Haven are all within easy striking distance - you could easily slot this in as a rainy-day activity or a quiet morning before the arcades get going. It's about two miles from the main resort area, so not a major trek. Just check opening times locally when you arrive, as church visiting hours can be temperamental. Proper bit of old England, really, if you're bothered about that sort of thing.
