The church sits tucked away inland from Skegness, a proper medieval structure that catches you off guard if you're expecting nothing but seaside tat and caravan parks. St Peter and St Paul's is the real deal - all stone arches and stained glass, the sort of place where you can actually feel the weight of centuries without any of the visitor centre theatrics.

Inside, the church is genuinely worth an hour of your time. The architecture tells the story: Norman columns, later medieval additions, and enough carved details to keep architecture enthusiasts properly occupied. The light through the windows is lovely, especially late afternoon. If you're into old churches - and I mean actually into them, not just ticking them off - this one rewards proper attention.

It's ideal if you've got a rainy afternoon or want a break from the amusement arcades and beach huts. Won't keep younger kids entertained for long unless they're the type who can sit quietly, but families staying at Butlins or Haven Skegness Holiday Park are only twenty minutes away. The real pull is for walkers and history types doing a church trail through Lincolnshire.

Access shouldn't be a problem - most churches of this age are open during daylight, though you'd want to check locally once you arrive. It's the sort of place that makes you grateful the caravan parks exist three miles down the road, because it means you can have your fish and chips and your medieval stonework without choosing between them.
