St Peter's & St Paul's Church

The twin towers of St Peter's & St Paul's rise above Wallingford's high street like a pair of stone sentries watching over centuries of Oxfordshire life. Inside, you get that particular hush that only old churches manage - the kind where your footsteps sound louder than they should and light filters through in long dusty rays.

If you're camping at any of the nearby sites - The Pig Place or Ridgeway View are closest - you could easily walk into town and spend an hour inside before grabbing lunch somewhere. It works well as part of a broader wander rather than a destination trip on its own.

The church is freely accessible during daylight hours, which is the British way. No time limit, no entrance fee, just push the door open. Go when Wallingford's quieter - weekday mornings beat weekends - and you'll actually hear yourself think.
