The walk down to St. Tysilio's Church from the village of Bryneglwys is half the appeal. You'll drop through proper Welsh countryside, with the Clwyd Valley opening out below, before finding yourself at this small medieval church tucked into a fold of land that feels genuinely remote despite being only a few miles from Ruthin.

The church itself is modest - whitewashed walls, a simple bell turret, ancient stone work that dates back to the 12th century. Inside, it's all wooden pews and flagstone floors worn smooth by centuries of footsteps. The real draw is the setting: it sits beside a stream with mature trees shading the churchyard, and there's something about the isolation that makes it stick with you. Not crowded. Not fussed up. Just genuinely peaceful.

Historically minded visitors will appreciate the dedication to St. Tysilio, a 6th-century Celtic saint, and the church's age - the structure has barely changed in 800 years.
