Testwood Walk

The Testwood Walk traces an old railway line between Ashurst and Totton, following the water for most of its length. It's a straightforward riverside ramble - nothing dramatic, but genuinely pleasant if you're staying in this pocket of Hampshire.

The walk itself is roughly three miles one way, taking you past remnants of the industrial past without being tedious about it. The path is mostly flat and well-maintained, which means it suits families with younger legs and anyone avoiding steep terrain. The Testwood Stream runs alongside for much of it, which keeps things visually interesting even if the surrounding landscape won't knock your socks off.

Walkers will appreciate the peace - it doesn't draw crowds like some honeypots do. The railway heritage angle interests some people, though you won't find lavish interpretation boards everywhere.
