Matley Wood Campsite

Location is perfect. Convenient for Lynwood but not too close. There is the occasional plane. Lovely surrounding area for early morning walks with a variety of moorland and forest. The campsite could be even better if there was a no music policy as our neighbour played some slightly annoying music for an hour or two in the early evening (but everyone sticks to the 10pm rule).

My son and I spent a week at Matley Wood Campsite in the New Forest cycling the network of cycle tracks and visiting local towns and an evening performance at an outdoor theatre. Had a warm welcome from the warden Terry who actively managed a well maintained clean and quiet site amongst the New Forest wildlife. We really enjoyed our stay and will look to return in the future.

Very friendly staff. Terry was so pleasant to talk to despite it being a busy weekend. We watched him have to deal with several people breaking the rules and he handled them all so well. Highly recommend unless you are the type of person who wants to stroke the animals.

Site is beautiful, something for everyone. Open spaces with views of open grazing land, spaces in the trees for woodland feeling, also stream running through which is good too. Site shop, just ice creams and a few essentials. Everywhere kept clean and tidy, plenty of bin areas, water and toilet emptying facilities. Great for families, couples, dogs welcome. We have just returned from a 3 night stay at Matley Wood. Terry the site warden was there to greet us on arrival, we saw him many times walking the site making sure everything was safe and ok. He was friendly and helpful. The site has barriers stopping other vehicles from entering, but because the site is in the forest anyone walking can walk through.
